Helping your social enterprise deliver greater impact
It takes time, effort and insight for an organisation to achieve its full potential and it often takes an external perspective and additional resource to help identify and overcome the challenges that stand in the way.
At Advantage Business Agency we not only offer this external and objective perspective, we also have a deep understanding of the challenges facing third sector organisations today and an experienced team of consultants who will help drive forward your and your organisation’s effectiveness.
Advantage Business Agency is one of the UK’s leading voluntary sector support agencies with decades of experience in helping social enterprises and voluntary organisations to become stronger and grow faster.
Our services in this sector include:
- Accounts & Tax
Having clarity on purpose, direction and priorities is critical to the success of your organisation. During the planning process it can be a real benefit to include an external perspective – a fresh pair of eyes and someone to ask the right questions. Our team will work collaboratively with you to help you understand and articulate your impact; how best to measure it and align your activities accordingly; examine your current funding streams; diversify your funding portfolio and carry out external scanning to understand your organisation’s position in a rapidly changing environment.
Through a range of our funded programmes, we can deliver support to organisations who need help with grants and funding.
Funded support comes in many forms including:
- Financial forecasting, planning and modelling
- Business planning and strategy
- Ideas around future sustainability and income generation
- Effective governance and constitutional matters
- Guidance for management on how to efficiently support ongoing business
- Writing funding applications to UK and EU funds, trusts and foundations
The focus on the funded support provided is around guidance and mentoring to provide transfer of knowledge and ensure that organisations are stronger and healthier and able to help themselves going forward.
We work with a number of government-backed agencies, charities, social enterprises, social investment funds and many other stakeholders to help create a social investment marketplace that gives charities and social enterprises access to the type of finance they need to realise their ambitions. This involves making sure that we understand the latest policy developments and legislative changes so we can influence them and help create a functioning and efficient social investment market.
We work with community-led enterprises that could make a real difference to the communities they serve, through the development of assets and delivery of services needed by and delivered for the local community. By offering a combination of financial investments and expert support, we help these enterprises to become stable, soundly run businesses that will survive long into the future.
Since we started in 2008, we have secured over £50 million of social investment and grant funding.
Sustainable Projects of the Third Sector (SPOTS)
'Sustainable Projects of the Third Sector' (SPOTS) is a three-year Erasmus+ funded project exploring the relationship between funders and recipients. It is a partnership between organisations from four nation states: France (lead partner), UK, Portugal and Algeria. There are three elements to the project: research & dissemination; methodology development and training.
This document details the research undertaken with organisations (funder and fundee) within the cultural sector, however, the findings chime with evidence from other sectors of society.
Out of this research emerged a series of issues that the project would tackle in a practical and proactive way. These issues were discussed jointly by both funders and fundees through a series of joint workshops (IO2), the report for this can be read here
The research findings will be used in the development of a methodology to be used in training workshops in the final phase of the project.
